Holiday Soaps
This weekend I made up some holiday scented soaps. I can not even tell you how excited I am about them. I did use fragrance oils, I would rather have used essential oils but it is the holidays and I really wanted some festive smelling soaps for gift giving.
First I made a delightfully delicious gingerbread soap. I have a feeling this will be a hit with the kids. It instantly took me back to baking with my grandma. My only regret is not coloring this one. It would have been even more lovely if it looked like gingerbread.
Next I made some Jack Frost soap. This is for all those men who enjoy a nice bar of handmade soap but would rather it didn't smell like "girl". This scent is described as "sweet juices of brambling wildberries cascading over green pine needles". Unfortunately his oil is discontinued and I have use the last of what I have. It was hard to use those last few drops but I knowing you all will get enjoyment out of it made it a bit easier to part with.
I also mixed up some Frankincense & Myrrh soap. Described as "cauldrons of pure frankincense and myrhh powder simmering together, sweetened with delicate nuances of sandalwood and vanilla!" This is also well suited for the men in your life.

What is new?
Well... we now have soap - yes sir handmade soap! I have ordered a few loafs to test recipes. Very soon we will be off and running with our own handmade soaps. Why test loafs? Well I wanted to try out shampoo bars, to see if I wanted to make them. I only sell things I use so - I had to use them to see if I should sell them. I love them, and have begun testing my own recipes. I have a recipe that does not use coconut oil and one that does. Now I have to decide which I like better or if I will offer both of them.
I also will have Organically Preserved products stocking in my store very soon. I hate chemical preservatives and I have searched high and low for a way to naturally preserve products that contain water or aloe. Well kids, I have found it. I can hardly contain my excitement. I am just thrilled to be able to offer these products to you. Finally a purely natural lotion, yes it is possible. Others may claim they do not add a preservative, but trust me they do. Please be aware that if you use a product in your fourmulation that contains a preservative you do not have to list that in your ingredients. So many people - say use aloe with a preservative in it and then just list aloe as an ingredient. The presevative in the aloe covers the whole product, but it looks like there is nothing added. This is a loophole. ALL FORMULATIONS THAT CONTAIN WATER OR EVEN ALOE MUST BE PRESERVED. Plus when that preservative is not listed there is no way for you to know what type it is. Is is a paraben? Does it contain and/or release formeldahyde?

What is an "Earth Muffin"
I came to call my business Earth Muffin because a dear friend of mine often refered to me as an "earth muffin" and the name just kind of stuck.
According to Urban Dictionary an Earth Muffin is:
Environmentally conscience, socially aware, recycles when she can, prefers organic or natural products, and will drive out of the way to support mom and pop before large consumer corporations. She’s a modern hippy but also has a practical side. She’s cute, showers regularly, and encourages others to do the right thing without being judgmental or critical.
And well, that pretty much describes me, at least I would like to think so.
